The Komedia New Comedy Awards, in association with the award-winning Comic Boom comedy club and Arts Journalist Victoria Nangle, is open for entries for 2025, championing rising original comedic voices for its fourth year. Online entry launches on 16th September 2024, with the semi-finals and final taking place in January and February 2025.
This May, Brighton institution Komedia will celebrate its 30th Birthday.
The Komedia New Comedy Awards in association with Comic Boom comedy club and Victoria Nangle have been going for four years now and at last I made it down to Brighton for the final. Comedy competitions can often be long affairs with producers having big line-ups so that all the acts' mates buy tickets and fill the venue. No such problem at Komedia where nine acts, ably compered by Barry Ferns, played to a full room of what seemed like a non-partisan but very up-for-it crowd.
The final of The Komedia New Comedy Award 2024 in association with Comic Boom comedy club and Victoria Nangle has taken place at Komedia in Brighton.
After heats featuring the best acts who sent in clips of themselves, nine performers battled it out in the sold out showdown for this increasingly prestigious prize.
And the winner in a closely fought contest is Andrew Fox. Runners up were James Danielewski, Amelia Hamilton and Matthew Ali.

Komedia are excited to announce the return of the Komedia New Comedy Award in 2023, in association with Comic Boom comedy club and Victoria Nangle. Entries for the Komedia New Comedy Award 2023 open from 2nd September 2022, with the semi-finals and Final taking place in January and February 2023.
The winner of the inaugural Komedia New Comedy Award is Michael Akadiri. After a tight competition, Akadiri was presented his award onstage at Komedia in Brighton.
Dinesh Nathan was 1st runner up and joint 2nd runner up places were awarded to Fran Kissling and Will Robbins.
The Komedia New Comedy Award was launched in January 2020 in association with Comic Boom and Victoria Nangle.
The two wild card finalists have been revealed for the inaugural Komedia New Comedy Award.
Jack Abela and Alfie Packham were put through based on a public vote after clips of them performing were put on YouTube.
Nine out of the eleven finalists for the first ever Komedia New Comedy Award have been revealed.
The two remaining finalists will be chosen by wild card voting which is now live.
