Kitson
An extremely early TV appearance from Daniel Kitson has been discovered by an eagle-eyed beyond the joke reader and Kitson superfan Barry Donovan who runs the unofficial fansite kitson.cakeinmilk.com
The early Kitson set at the Edinburgh Fringe was filmed as part of a TV comedy competition. It is believed to date from 1995 and Kitson is just 18 at the time.
Daniel Kitson is set to debut a new show in Manchester this autumn.
Pith will run at the Royal Exchange from October 17 - 26. It is described as "a new storytelling experiment"
The blurb is as follows:
"There might be music.
Daniel Kitson will be doing a London run of his latest show Collaborator. It is billed as a work in progress.
BTJ saw an early version of the show at the Edinburgh fringe last year and while critics have been asked not to review it we can say it is one of his most mischievously self-referential and inventive yet.
The run will be at the Albany in Deptford from Monday July 15 to Friday August 3.
The blurb on the website quotes Kitson:
Cult comedy superstar Daniel Kitson is set to compere an all-star benefit in aid of autism charity PDA next month.
Hopefully A Few Laughs with Daniel Kitson will take place on Monday, July 1 at the Union Chapel in Islington, north London.
Also appearing on the bill are TV regular Katherine Ryan, Taskmaster loon Lou Sanders, Friday Night Dinner star Tom Rosenthal, satirist Nish Kumar and serial award-winner John Kearns. With more names to be added.
Daniel Kitson is to take his latest show on a tour starting on March 7.
The new show is called Collaborator. In typical enigmatic style Kitson doesn't want to say too much about it in advance but he wrote on his newsletter: " Id (sic) rather you didnt really know too much before you came along but i will say, as shows go, especially my shows - it’s short and its fun - aka the dream. "
Beyond The Joke 'saw' a version of this in Edinburgh and needless to say it's a return to form for maverick genre-straddler Kitson.
Daniel Kitson is to play a few last minute shows at the Edinburgh Fringe this week.
He will be doing three loose, hour long shows to try out new ideas to slot into his current show Something Other Than Everything. These shows are at Stand 1 on 23rd-25th August at 10.20 am. Tickets go on sale at noon today and are £5 here.
Daniel Kitson is working on a number of new projects in 2016.
He used to try out new ideas at The Hob in South London but the venue no longer runs comedy nights so he is now going to be hosting a comedy night in Nottingham in the basement where the Just The Tonic club used to be. The dates and guests are as follows:
