ive Comedy Day (LCD), the brand new national day of celebration for the UK’s live comedy sector, has announced a further wave of high-profile Comedy Ambassadors ahead of its inaugural event on 1st April 2026.
The publicly-voted Comedy.co.uk Awards has named Taskmaster as 2025’s Comedy Of The Year.
Created, written by, and starring Alex Horne alongside Greg Davies, the Channel 4 format broadcast two series in 2025, and was also named Best TV Entertainment Show. Separately, Horne and his comedy musical group bandmates also took the title of Best Returning TV Sitcom for their eponymous mockumentary The Horne Section TV Show.
Chloe Reynolds from Staffordshire has won the Howes Percival Leicester Comedian of the Year 2026 Competition at Leicester Comedy Festival, securing the coveted championship trophy along with a cash prize.

The BBC has unveiled the finalists for the 2026 BBC Audio Drama Awards, highlighting the very best in audio drama and comedy from across the UK and beyond. Now in its fifteenth year, the Awards recognise excellence in writing, production, performance and sound across the industry.

It is the 20th year of these awards. As always, the results are based entirely on a public vote. The public selected the following to be on the shortlists, and now voting runs until end of Sunday 25th January to determine the winners in each category. The results will be announced in February.

The Theatre Royal Haymarket is to host the Big Jewish Comedy Gala, an evening celebrating leading Jewish comedians, following a series of high-profile cancellations on the UK comedy circuit and the wider entertainment and the boycott of Jewish performers.
The event will also raise funds for the Community Security Trust (CST), a charity that protects British Jews from antisemitism and terrorism.
Channel 4, S4C & Little Wander are excited to announce the third iteration of Comedy Lab Cymru, a development programme for Welsh (and Wales-based) comedy talent.
Applications are now open, with a 12 January deadline.
The Irish Arts Council has made a committment to support comedy in the future.
