BBC Radio To Launch New Friday Night Topical Comedy The Naked Week

Starting on 29th November, comedy fans will be able to enjoy a new addition to Radio 4’s Friday Night Comedy lineup: The Naked Week, presented by podcast host and satirist Andrew Hunter Murray and co-written and produced by The Skewer’s Jon Holmes.  
The Naked Week is a fresh way of dressing the week’s news in the altogether and parading it around for everyone to laugh at.

Comedian Mark Felgate and co-presenter of The Gadget Show Jason Bradbury have launched a kickstarter campaign to raise £50,000 to make a movie entitled Ctrl AI Delete in which gamers take on Artificial Intelligence

New Comedy Shorts From BBC Northern Ireland

BBC Northern Ireland has commissioned five new comedy shorts from Nice One Productions.

They will debut on October 7, as part of its on-going commitment to develop and nurture new comedy acting, writing and production talent.

The shorts will be available in their entirety on BBC iPlayer from Monday 7 October at 6am, and weekly on BBC One Northern Ireland from October 7 at 11.35pm.

Train Turns Carriage Into Stand Up Club

Hull Trains has showcased its dedication to supporting arts and culture in East Yorkshire by turning a train carriage into a special pop-up comedy club. 

The exciting Hull Trains ‘Comedy Carriage’, which received a brilliant response from customers on the 11:48 service from London King’s Cross to Hull, was created to celebrate a new partnership with Hull Comedy Festival.

Comedians’ Choice Awards Comes To The 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe

British Comedy Guide are pleased to announce the return of The Comedians’ Choice Awards to the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  This year, thanks to generous support from Angel Comedy and The Museum of Comedy, there will be a prize fund, with the winners of Best Show and Best Newcomer Awards each receiving a cash prize to help with the cost of their Edinburgh Fringe accommodation. 

There will be three awards:

Best Show - The best comedy show at the Fringe as voted by comedians.

Edinburgh Fringe 2024: Rarely Asked Questions – Dr Jo Prendergast

Introducing New Zealand comedian, psychiatrist and author Dr Jo Prendergast who makes her Edinburgh Fringe debut with ‘The Cool Mum’ at the Gilded Balloon. The show is aimed at anyone who has been a parent or a child, and is a parody of a personal development seminar. She has also written a book for parents on teenage mental health, ‘When Life Sucks’.

Edinburgh Fringe Preview Line-Up At Red Imp Comedy Club

Review: 99 Club Bursary Showcase

Despite all the gripes and groans about escalating costs the Edinburgh Fringe anticipation seems to be growing. Last night's 99 Club Bursary Showcase has become an established pre-Fringe staging post for ambitious female and non-binary acts taking their debut shows to Edinburgh. Previous showcases have featured future stars including Sarah Keyworth and Catherine Bohart. There are no outright winners any more, but two acts receive £500 each and the others £100.

The UK Live Comedy Sector Estimated To Be Worth Over £1billion To Economy

A partnership of organisations have estimated that the value of the UK live comedy sector is worth in excess of £1billion to the UK economy. A survey of over 350 people working in the UK Live Comedy Sector has found that the turnover of their activities is worth in excess of £82million per year.
