Ghosts
A new book is set to tell the behind the scenes story of hit sitcom Ghosts later this year. Ghosts: Brough to Life — The Making of a Classic will be published by Bloomsbury in October.
According to the Bookseller, the publicity campaign will include events with the actors from the series, though no details have been revealed.
One of the first proper plays I ever saw was an adaptation of Gogol's The Government Inspector starring Rik Mayall at the National Theatre back in (thank you Google) 1985. Alongside Mayall, already a star thanks to The Young Ones, the cast also included two other actors who would later pop up in Blackadder – Jim Broadbent and Tim McInnerny.
Martha Howe-Douglas – best known as one of the co-creators, writers and performers of hit BBC Comedy Ghosts and Sky 1’s Yonderland – will join fellow stars Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Dan Skinner in the brand-new adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s satirical masterpiece, THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, premiering at the Marylebone Theatre from 3 May – 15 June 2024,
The second series of Here We Go starts on Friday, February 2 at 8pm on BBC One. That's a very prime time slot for this quirky domestic comedy written by Tom Basden and starring Katherine Parkinson, Jim Howick of Ghosts and Alison Steadman from all sorts of classic comedies including Gavin and Stacey. With a pedigree like this it has to be good, but can it fill that Ghosts-shaped hole in the schedule? The BBC must be confident, a third series is already planned. The cast talk about the new series below.

Star of Ghosts, Taskmaster and Stath Lets Flats Kiell Smith-Bynoe is set to bring his smash-hit, sell-out improvised comedy show Kiell Smith-Bynoe & Friends: Kool Story Bro to Southwark Playhouse Elephant from Wednesday 21st to Saturday 24th February.
The final episode of hit sitcom Ghosts has divided the show's fanbase. While some found the ending – no spoilers – incredibly moving, it left other devotees a little disappointed. The episode had been eagerly awaited. Before broadcast a picture of the cast hugging each other on location has already gone viral on social media, moving many to tears.
Christmas is just around the corner and Mike’s mum, Betty is staying. Although she is just trying to be helpful, Mike and Alison soon lose patience with her interfering ways. There’s no easy way to ask her to go home so the couple (and the Ghosts) struggle on, with Button House feeling fuller than ever.
Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe is to take over from Sara Pascoe as host of The Great British Sewing Bee. Smith-Bynoe will host a Christmas special and series 10 in 2024. Sara Pascoe has just had a baby, though that has not been officially said to be the reason for the change.
Having confirmed earlier this year that the much-loved comedy Ghosts would be coming to an end after the upcoming fifth and final series, the team behind the show have today announced that there will in fact be a Christmas special.
The Ghosts team posted on social media: “The final series of Ghosts starts on Friday... but there might be one last present under the Christmas tree this year #BBCGhosts”
