News: More Comedy Companies Receives Lifeline Grants

News: Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Final – Results

The final has taken place of this year's Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Comedians chosen by promoters around the UK competed for the prestigious title previously won by stars including Josh Widdicombe, Johnny Vegas, Seann Walsh, Rhod Gilbert, Miles Jupp and Jason Manford.

DJ Geoff Lloyd and previous winner Tom Rosenthal commentated on the event for a live broadcast on Union Jack Radio.

The final took place at The Y Theatre in Leicester.

News: Jenny Bolt Wins Silver Stand-Up Competition

Comedian Jenny Bolt has won this year's Silver Stand-Up Competition at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

The competition is open to aspiring comedians over 55 years old.

The final took place at Peter Pizzeria in Leicester and was hosted by Mrs Barbara Nice.

The Festival finishes on Sunday. This weekend's highlight is the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Final at the Y Theatre in Saturday night.

News: Comedians Raise More Than £20,000 For Leicester Comedy Festival

Jo Brand, Arthur Smith, Hal Cruttenden, Milton Jones, Lost Voice Guy, Phil Nichol, Ivan Brackenbury and Eshaan Akbar have all helped raise thousands of pounds to support Leicester Comedy Festival and the registered charity that produces it, Big Difference Company.  All the acts took part in fundraising shows and events for the festival, which runs until Sunday 23rd February 2020.
