Rhod Gilbert
Comedy Central UK has greenlit brand new comedy commission ‘Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains’, hosted by, you guessed it, Rhod Gilbert
Rhod Gilbert returns for a ninth series of Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience that sees the Welsh comedian swap his day job for other careers across the country.
Rhod’s next challenge, airing on BBC One Wales at 9pm on June 12, sees him try his hand at cake artistry. Far from decorating an average birthday cake, this is serious edible art and Rhod has his work cut out for him.
Comedians Rhod Gilbert and Sian Harries are launching a new podcast, entitled The Froth. In each episode the real-life couple will be brushing the relentless, depressing, serious news cycle under a thick shag pile carpet and focusing forensically on the frothy stuff; using stupid news stories from around the world, their own pointless lives and plenty of utterly pathetic listener stuff too.
The BBC has decided to broadcast the episode of Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience series in which he is a carer early as a tribute to those looking after our loved ones.
It wll now go out on Friday, April 17 at 9.30pm on BBC Wales and will be available for all to watch on iPlayer straight after.
Rhod Gilbert's Book Of John Tour has been extended into 2020 due to demand. The new dates include a ten-night residency at the EICC during the Edinburgh Festival in August and additional dates throughout the Autumn and now into Spring 2020 taking the total number of shows to over 130.
The Pleasance has announced more comedy names for this summer's Edinbrgh Fringe.
Rhod Gilbert has added lots of new dates to his first tour in seven years entitled The Book of John. The new shows include a ten-night run at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Christmas is clearly not far away now. Knebworth House, near Stevenage, is holding a winter festival next weekend where you can shop until you drop, and then eat, drink or join in with a singalng screening of The Greatest Showman.
Comedy fans, however, can get their fix with an excellent mini-festival over two nights. There are early evening shows from Mark Steel (Friday) and The Improv All Stars (Saturday) and then two really top-rate mixed bills to finish off each evening in style.
Why did you sign up to take part in Taskmaster?
I don’t know, I honestly don’t. I hadn’t really watched the show. I wish I had, if I’m honest. It would definitely have helped. James Acaster is a big fan of the show and he’s seen the house and knew where things were kept. He called on that knowledge in the show. If I’d known what I was letting myself in for I probably wouldn’t have done it. Because I think I’ve come across pretty badly.
Why?
Following a six-year break from stand-up multi-award-winning comedian Rhod Gilbert is back with a brand new live show. The Welsh wonder is set to embark upon a full UK tour in 2019, kicking off in February and taking in two shows at London’s Eventim Apollo, and two shows at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena.
