Winner of Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe 2024 Mark Simmons has announced his next tour starting in 2026. His debut tour, Quip Off the Mark, lasted three years, with over 215 dates over across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and sold over 25,000 tickets. Along the way he picked up a Joke of the Fringe Award in 2024, alongside Danny Ward, won the Victoria Wood Panel Prize at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, and won the Comic’s Comic of the year in 2022.
I first spotted Mark Simmons in a comedy competition around a decade ago. It could have been the So You Think You’re Funny? final At the Edinburgh Fringe or the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year, where he was runner-up in 2013. I thought straight away that he had a way with words and a gift for a winning one-liner.
Mark Simmons, the latest winner of ‘U&Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe’ Award, is wrapping up a two year debut stand up tour which has included over 200 gigs, with a date at Soho Theatre on Monday 16th December. His debut tour, which has spanned the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, been extended five times, and sold over 20,000 tickets, is finally coming to end as he prepares to release a debut comedy special.
