As anyone who watched the spoiler-packed trailer at the end of last week's opening episode set in China will know already Sean (Ade Oyefeso) doesn't become the meat in a stir fry. Instead he just gets forced to sing karaoke against his will by the people who gave him a lift – though if it was me I'd rather end up in a wok, but that's just shy old me. For Sean, the biggest challenge is hooking up with his fellow travellers again via the bullet train. Which involves finding the right bullet train in the first place.
I could pretty much watch anything that Tim Key is in, so I’m glad he is in Gap Year. I’m not sure if I’d have stuck with the opening episode without his moon-faced grin popping up soon after the start as irritating hanger-on Greg.
The last time I saw Tim Key he was onstage at the Old Vic in Art. The next time I will be seeing him is onscreen. Key plays Greg in E4’s new eight part comedy-drama Gap Year.
BBC Three is to launch a new mockumentary, Pls Like, about the search for the next megastar vlogger. Produced by Left Bank Pictures, the weekly series follows struggling comedian Liam (Williams) as the unlikely victor who must undertake a series of challenges in order to win a £10,000 prize.
Daniel Kitson is compering a benefit that has been hastily arranged to raise money to provide humanitarian aid for those who are and have been stuck in the Calais Jungle migrants’ camp. It is at the Old Vic in London on October 13.
Noel Fielding, Adam Buxton and Tim Key are among the acts due to play a four-day mini-festival later this month.
The shows will take place from February 15 - 20 at the Bush Theatre in West London, a small venue in Shepherds Bush better known for staging fringe theatre plays rather than comedy. The shows have been arranged by the management agency PBJ.

The fire at Battersea Arts Centre on Friday, March 13 may have been devastating, but you can rely on comedians to find the funny side. Last night’s sold out benefit at the Royal Festival Hall kicked off with Stewart Lee, who came on to a live rendition of Burning Down The House played by Kneehigh Theatre’s band.

When Daniel Kitson’s two-hander with Tim Key opened at Manchester's Royal Exchange in 2013 reviews compared it to Samuel Beckett. Two comedic blokes. A tree. Some waiting. There has to be a Godot influence lurking in there. The play has finally landed in London for a prestigious run at the Old Vic and I can’t really see the connection myself. There's a bucket, but no Beckett.
Daniel Kitson has confirmed that he will be performing a new show in 2015. Polyphony will be premiered at the Northcote Hall in Melbourne from March 25 to April 19 as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival. The show will then tour Australia and New Zealand. This follows his Christmas story show in London and his forthcoming performance of Tree at the Old Vic with Tim Key.
Not a big week for live comedy in London unless you are Jewish or like Jewish humour. The two most notable gigs are Bennett Arron’s Rabbi Santa show tonight at the King’s Head, featuring Arron, Mark Maier, Sol Bernstein and Joe Bor.
