Veep and Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus has announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The award-winning actor posted the following statement on Twitter earlier today:
"1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one"
"The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal healthcare a reality."
Veep, Saturday Night Live, Atlanta and Black Mirror were among the big winners at the 2017 Emmys.
The satirical series set in the White House won Best Comedy Series, while its star Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Best Comedy Actress for the sixth time.
Best Comedy Actor was Donald Glover for Atlanta. The show also won Best Comedy Directing.
Actor Peter MacNicol has had his Emmy nomination withdrawn after the Television Academy ruled his performance in Veep was ineligible in the category Outstanding Guest Actor, Comedy.
The Producers Guild of America has announced its TV Awards nominations and a number of familiar British comedy creatives are in the running.
