The winners have been announced of this year's Dave's Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards has released new details for this year’s 40th anniversary, revealing a brand new four-episode podcast will be released to celebrate this year’s winners as well as a reflective look back on the Awards’ extraordinary alumni, starring Rose Matafeo, Harry Hill, Al Murray, Jenny Eclair, Catherine Cohen and Roisin Conaty.
Nica Burns, the longstanding Producer and Director of Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards, has unveiled the judging panel for the coveted Awards at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August. The winners of the first National Comedy Awards for Stand Up To Cancer have been announced at the inaugural ceremony at Camden Roundhouse in London this evening (Wed 2 Mar). The awards celebrating Britain’s favourite funny people were hosted by Tom Allen, with trophies being handed out by stars of comedy and entertainment including Matt Lucas, Meera Syal, Jamie Demetriou, Jessica Hynes and Joel Dommett.
The voting has reopened for the National Comedy Awards for Stand Up To Cancer.
Shortlist voting is back on at www.thenationalcomedyawards.com ahead of next week’s ceremony. The vote will close on Sunday 27 Feb at 23:59.
The awards, which were due to take place as a live event last December were postponed because of Covid. They will now take place on 2 March at London’s Roundhouse and will be broadcast on Channel 4 on 5 March.
Jo Caulfield, Ninia Benjamin and Mark Nelson have jointly won the award for Circuit Comedian of the Year.
The comedy industry voted resulted in a triple tie so the award this year – won last year by Scott Bennett – will be shared.
Sean Lock posthumously picks up the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Best MC went to Paul Smith, a regular compere at the Hot Water Club in Liverpool.
The BBC Audio Drama Awards 2021 has revealed winners including Sir Tom Stoppard, Maggie Steed, David Threlfall and the youngest recipient to date, Jordan Nash – all in a virtual ceremony marking the 10th year of the awards. The Outstanding Contribution prize and a new ‘Year of Reinvention’ category both recognised the sector’s achievements in light of challenges presented by covid-19.

Over 350 shows have been whittled down by viewer votes to a list of just 60.

Shows in the running include The Duchess starring Katherine Ryan and Staged which are both up for Best New TV Sitcom.
After Life and Friday Night Dinner are among those up for Best Returning Sitcom.
The BBC Audio Drama Awards shortlist for 2021 has been revealed. Nominees include Newsjack, Tim Key, Milton Jones, SeanceCast, The Lenny Henry Show and Elliot Steel.
The finalists will be announced on Tuesday 9 February 2021, and the winners on Sunday 21 March 2021.
