The results are in and the big winner of the Awards this year is BBC sitcom Ghosts, which wins Comedy of the Year and also Best Returning TV Sitcom. See the full results and links to their YouTube acceptance speeches below.

David Mitchell does well too, with Best TV Panel Show going to Would I Lie To You? and Best Radio Panel Show going to The Unbelievable Truth.

ISH Comedy Award Winners Announced

The winners of the inaugural (ISH) Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Show and Best Newcomer have been announced at the Ceremony at The Three Sisters today along with the Panel Prize.


The (Insert Sponsor Here) Edinburgh Comedy Awards began earlier this summer, when the long-established Edinburgh Comedy Awards lost their funding and looked unlikely to go ahead in 2023. 



ISH Awards Shortlists Announced

The (ISH) Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Show and Best Newcomer shortlists have been announced.

The organisers say that a collective of around 35 volunteers have seen all eligible comedy shows (full run, not compilation) between them and have chosen 11 shows for the Best Show list and 5 for Best Newcomer  The winners will be announced on Saturday 26th August at the ceremony at The Three Sisters (Maggie's Chamber) along with the Panel Prize.


ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards Announce Longlist

The ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards, an alternative set of awards announced when the long-established Edinburgh Comedy Awards did not have a sponsor, has revealed their long lists for Best Show and Best Newcomer.

A collective of volunteers have seen eligible shows and have chosen a longlist of shows below.  This week the judges will see more shows to choose a shortlist of 5 shows in each category.


Nica Burns Launches Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2023

Nica Burns, the longstanding Director of the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, has officially launched the biggest awards in live comedy at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  

Figures from across the comedy industry gathered in Edinburgh for the annual launch with Fringe Society President Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Chief Executive Shona McCarthy also in attendance.

The Edinburgh Comedy Awards, which has run for four decades, is currently looking for sponsorship. Another group has announced the (ISH) Edinburgh Comedy Awards. The ISH stands for Insert Sponsor Here as they are also looking for sponsorship.

British Comedy Guide’s Awards Revealed

Channel 4’s offbeat, adult puppet comedy Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared has been voted Comedy Of The Year and Best New TV Sitcom at the 2022 Awards.

Spoofing children’s early-learning programming, the dark sitcom originated as a self-produced web series in 2011 and quickly became a cult hit, arriving on television in the autumn with a six-part series.
