The winners of this year’s ‘Oscars of Comedy’ have been announced at the 45th Edinburgh Comedy Awards ceremony.
Today, ‘the Oscars of Comedy’, the Edinburgh Comedy Awards has revealed the shortlist for the two biggest prizes in comedy: The Taffner Family Best Comedy Show and The DLT Entertainment Best Newcomer. Now celebrating their 45th year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Awards have launched generations of comedic talent and remain the benchmark of excellence in the industry.
The Comedians’ Choice Awards is set to return to the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
There will be three awards:
Best Show - The best comedy show at the Fringe as voted by comedians.
Best Newcomer - The best debut hour of comedy at the Fringe as voted by comedians.
Comedian Barry Ferns has called for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards to recognise the fact that some performers at the Edinburgh Fringe have an unfair advantage over others when it comes to attracting the attention of the judges.

The ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025 have announced additional sponsors for all 5 Awards this year.
The ISH Awards involves a voluntary panel of judges seeing every eligible comedy show at the Fringe, where 100% of any sponsorship goes to the artists.

The nominees for The Malcolm Hardee Awards 2024 have been revealed.
The awards – which are handed out in the memory of comic, agent, manager, club-owner and prankster Malcolm Hardee - celebrate and promote the spirit of anything-goes comedy anarchy at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
