Diane Morgan
You have again got some fabulous guest stars for the series, did you have these people in mind when writing the episodes? How was it working with this series guest stars?
I write the storyline first and then think of who would be the best people for the part.
We are on series 3 of Mandy now, what did you learn from series 1 and 2 that you brought into your writing for this new series?
I don’t know if I’ve learned anything!
Filming on the third series of Diane Morgan’s Mandy, from BBC Studios Comedy Productions, is underway. Once again Diane writes, directs, and stars in the series, where she will be joined by faces old and new, famous and not famous, tall and short.
Diane Morgan (Motherland, Philomena Cunk, After Life) is to guest host Have I Got News For You for the first time. It is Morgan's 3rd appearance on the show, having previously appeared as a panellist in 2015 and 2016.
On tonight’s show (25th February) Graham welcomes Oscar-nominated Benedict Cumberbatch, iconic drag queen and recording artist RuPaul, Normal People star Daisy Edgar-Jones, actor and director Diane Morgan, and music guests Regard x Years & Years.
Diane Morgan is set to have another big year with a new series of Philomena Cunk in the pipeline, but it's Mandy that feels like her real passion project – she stars, writes and directs here. And now starting its second series following a very slightly extended Christmas one-off it is really starting to find its feet.
Following a successful first series and a Christmas special Diane Morgan returns once again for another run folliowing the adventures of hapless Mandy, complete with an all-star cast - see below.
What is the true essence of Christmas? Is it the glimmer in a schoolboy’s expectant eye as he opens his pillowcase on Christmas morning and tucks into a delicious walnut and a bruised tangerine? Is it the wide smile on a publican’s face as he welcomes merry revellers with a vat of warm mulled wine he’s made in a sort of electric keg he normally puts oxtail soup in? Is it the haunting harmony of a choir respecting the current Covid protocols?
