Eddie Izzard
Eddie Izzard has succeeded in running 27 marathons in 27 days in South Africa.
He completed the challenge by running two marathons in the same day and has raised over £1 million for charity.
This was the second time he attempted this goal and was determined to be successful it this time, which meant running a total of more than 700 miles in temperatures of up to 30c. He finished his final run beneath a giant statue of Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg.
Eddie Izzard is planning to stand as a candidate in Labour’s elections to the party’s ruling national executive committee.
The new online BBC Three will exclusively cover Eddie’s journey, from his first marathon on Tuesday 23 February to his last marathon planned for Sunday 20 March.
Eddie Izzard is reviving the One Word Impro Show that he was a part of twenty years ago for a special gig on February 12.
The show was originally performed at the Albery Theatre. This time the team of Izzard, Neil Mullarkey, Suki Webster and Stephen Frost will be performing in an early evening show at the Palace Theatre at 6pm. It is going to be a busy night for Izzard. Straight after the Impro show he will be performing his solo show at the same venue.
Eddie Izzard has called for people to get the #BigThankYou hashtag trending on social media tonight in support of sport's unsung heroes. He was speaking at the Sports Personality of the Year event in Belfast broadcast on BBC1. The idea is to use the hashtag to thank someone that you think is a grass roots sporting unsung hero. Janey Godley has been nominated for four awards in the second Scottish Comedy Awards nominations, announced today. The Glaswegian comedian is up for Best Headliner, Best Compere, Best Podcast (with her daughter Ashley Storrie) and Best Festival/Tour Show.
Eddie Izzard has joined the campaign to save up to a 100 flats in Chelsea. The company that runs the estate, Affinity Sutton, wants to demolish them and build new flats, but Izzard’s fear is that the original tenants will be forced out.
Eddie Izzard is to headline a one-off benefit for housing and homelessness charity Shelter. Stand up for Shelter will take place on Wednesday, 25 February, 2015 at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
The acclaimed superstar will top a bill also featuring Josh Widdicombe, Rob Beckett and Sara Pascoe. Along with other special guests that are still to be announced, the evening will be hosted by Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell, the official radio partner for Stand Up for Shelter.
Eddie Izzard has been named as the headline act of the new Southsea Comedy Festival, which runs from July 31 to August 1. He will be performing his recent acclaimed Force Majeure show on both nights.
