I don't know if you'll be watching The Last Leg this week but I definitely will. One of the guests is James Acaster who is one of my all-time favourite comedians.
The 2022 British Podcast Awards powered by Audible have taken place today. Elis James and John Robins hosted, joined by the biggest names in podcasting including Idris & Sabrina Elba, Pandora Sykes, Jamie Laing, My Dad Wrote a Porno, Poppy Jay, Jon Sopel, Diana Vickers, Kem Cetinay, RedHanded, The Receipts' Tolani Shoneye and Dr Rupy.
I couldn't help noticing recently that a lot of comedians are intertwined. In a fiercely competitve business a lot of solo stand-ups seem to be forming temporary double acts for podcasts and programmes. And the same people keep cropping up, creating what you might want to call, if you were so inclined, the new Comedy Establishment.
LAUGHTERAMA presented by heycar, is Manchester’s all-new comedy festival, landing in Castlefield Bowl from 21-25th September 2022.
Comedy superstars like Netflix’s JAMES ACASTER, the legendary DYLAN MORAN, British Comedy Award winner AISLING BEA, Taskmaster’s PHIL WANG, observational master JOSH WIDDICOMBE, the Last Leg’s ROSIE JONES, the inimitable DANIEL KITSON plus many more incredible acts are set to light up the night.
Comedian James Acaster is one of the guests on this week's Sunday Brunch, hosted by Tim Lovejoy.
It's been a high profile week for Acaster, but not for the reasons expected. He should have been promoting his new Dave comedy Hypothetical, which he co-hosts with Josh Widdicombe and his return to live comedy with a new show about hecklers and heckling and his upcoming new book about giving up social media, but instead has been drawn into the debate over the new Ricky Gervais netflix special, Supernature.
Just For Laughs MONTRÉAL, in collaboration with Loto-Québec, is promising to be the absolute must-attend comedy event of the summer. Reuniting today’s top artists and industry in Montréal for the first time in over two years, festival goers can look forward to 20 days of non-stop laughter, from July 13-31, 2022.
The release of the latest Ricky Gervais special, Supernature, has prompted renewed interest in this classic James Acaster routine about "edgy comedians".
You can watch the whole James Acaster show that it came from, Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999, here.

Hypothetically speaking, is the fourth series of a show always the best series?
Josh Widdicombe [JW] I think so - the best series of The Simpsons was the fourth series. Very few comedy entertainment shows hit the ground running and are as good as their fourth or fifth series, because you learn more about the show while making it. Everything about this series feels sharper and snappier. We're in the sweet spot at the moment. The old rounds are tighter and it feels like this series is the show.
UKTV is launching two new comedy podcasts for Dave. A companion to the critically acclaimed TV series, Hypothetical: The Podcast will be hosted by James Acaster and Josh Widdicombe and will launch 5th May. Jordan Brookes: Look At What You’ve Done, hosted by Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Jordan Brookes, will launch late May.
James Acaster is set to appear at a special show fronted by jazz musician Tom Seals.
Seals will be joined by a 12-piece big band in an evening of music and comedy as stand-up legend Acaster joins Tom on stage to share his musical passions and hear Tom and the band perform them live along with jazz and big band standards.
