A new comedy festival has been announced in Leicester, organised by some of the comedians and promoters who are owed money by The Big Difference Company, the charity behind the Leicester Comedy Festival.
The Live Comedy Association (LCA) has today launched a fundraising campaign to support acts, promoters and other people affected by the non payment of money from Big Difference Company, the producers of Leicester Comedy Festival. The initial target is £30,000 and the process for people to apply for support will be announced shortly. This fund follows the £5,000 which was distributed by the LCA last month. The Live Comedy Association (LCA) has responded to the news that Leicester Comedy Festival producers Big Difference Company (registered charity) has ceased trading. The news broke this morning when the trustees of the charity issued a statement saying they had become insolvent and were closing down.
This news comes after the LCA launched a crowdfunding campaign yesterday to raise money to support people affected by non payments following Leicester Comedy Festival 2026.

The Leicester Comedy Festival's forthcoming offshoot Open Air Summer Gig which was due to take place in the city’s Abbey Park on Sunday 14th June has been cancelled.
The BBC has reported that ticket holders for LCF In The Park have received an email from the organisers saying that costs would be refunded within ten working days but booking fees were non-refundable.
